Saint-Elme
A welcoming lighthouse

Lighthouses are meant to catch eye attention. Since ancient times these buildings have been beautifully designed as a landmark for important settlements and to guide ships to find the safe way home.
This project proposes a renovated look to the traditional lighthouses by using modern materials, but still being recognizable.
As a source of inspiration common elements found on the sea were selected to create a visual language present in the design.
This building develops a symbiotic relation between architecture and nature by providing a holding structure that will be occupied by local plants to create a living wall. In this way the building is integrated with its nearby environment.

Saint-Elme proposes a welcome landmark to put on the map of coastal towns. Having a comfortable living space meant to its household residents, it can be offered as unique lodging.
