Apiz

My first writting kit

the six main tools of the Apiz project

Apiz is a toolkit that guides the learning process of writing from two to seven years old (Kinder age). It provides a more natural way to develop fine motor skills in order to acquire the adequate pencil grip.

The system includes six elements based on the main stages of writing  development. Shapes and configurations have been conceived to improve  the graphomotricity from a basic volumetric grip (thick motricity), to an

advanced cylindrical grip (fine motricity). Thus, preventing problems associated with bad postures such as calluses and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

These six main tools "Flexos"  are complemented by additional components specific of each phase. Each one of these aims to develop cognitive

capabilities which are transferred to the next stage. Therefore, this

combination of motor and cognitive skills consolidates the writing process.

Formal exploration of the elements
Mockups to test the proportions and ergonomics
Timeline of the tools during the diachronic learning process
Additional tools for each particular stage of learning

Transferable skills and specific tools on each stage of development

The project was developed by understanding the writing as a diachronic progressive process. This means  that  the more skills are attained by the student the form and configuration of the tools becomes less complex.

Did you know that the name Apiz comes from the mispronounced Spanish word lapiz (pencil) when children were providing their first impressions about the toolkit.
